Tour de trash
This is a site for free schedueld tours that give a peek into the waste management process.
http://www.opala.org/recycling_business/Tour_de_trash_2006.htm
There is one in july on construction and demolition. july 27 after summer school. Giant piles of metal to be recycled.
One of the tours occurs in September on a thursday for recycling and waste processors. This tour goes to waimanalo gulch, H-POWER, and composting place
The last tour occurs in November about company recycling, and how it saved them money. Youngs laundry saving money using cooking oil is an example of companies saving money through recycling. I was thinking that perhaps punahou could use some of the methods already used by others as an action step.
| Who: | Opala is a waste management resource. They write about the times when trash centers are open and tell when composting centers are open. |
| What: | It is a dot org site set up by opala dot org. Opala is a group that gives information on waste management, schedules for recycling centers, composting centers, and a spot for kids, with ways to get involved. Opala dot org is basically a good site for anyone in hawaii who wants to recycle, learn about waste management, or dispose of their trash. Opala dot org also has images of piles of metal and paper and plastic ready to be recycled. |
| Where: | They compiled their info from themselves; they planned the free tours. |
| When: | It is upgraded as plans change, and was probably made in late 2005. that is the furthest back that is when the first tours started. |
| Why: | This site has information on the three last tours of waste management in Hawaii. No other site I know of has this information. |

Colby,
This is a great site! What we are looking for is more things on Hawaii, and you hit that. When I looked your entry over, I noticed some spelling things that could be fixed. Could you please go over it again and CAPITALIZE certain letters of certain words(you know what I mean) to make the entry more official? It would really help. I know that you are working hard and I can see that you are doing a great job! Keep it up!

Colby, Nice site! May I suggest you use capitol letters at the beginning of each sentence. It makes it alot easier to read, and makes you seem more knowledgable - which you are! Thanks, Auntie Carole
