Hemmeter Fieldhouse resounded with oli, mele and hula as the Academy Holokū Pageant and Junior School May Day Programs showcased the beauty and culture of Hawai'i.

Holokū was staged twice on April 28, 2012, reflecting the theme "Ka Mo'olelo o Ka Mele Hawai'i - The History of Hawaiian Music." Academy students shared songs and dances that told the story of how Hawaiian music evolved and affected the people and places of the islands.

Middle School students (grades 6 - 8) performed on May 3 following the same theme as Holokū. Junior School students (grades K - 2 and 3 - 5) performed on May 4, with their songs and dances reflecting the theme, "Like a Lei, We are Connected."

From the kindergartners' charming rendition of "Ke Ao Nani" (Beautiful World) to the seniors who served so gracefully as singers, musicians, dancers and members of the royal court in their final Holokū Pageant, each event showcased Punahou students at their finest.
