World renown Coach and Speaker Nick Bollettieri shows a simple drill to improve your RESPONSE time. According to Paul Roetert, Ph.D., reaction time is the time it takes for your brain to process the information about what type of shot is being hit and then sending that message to the muscles to prepare for either a forehand or backhand. Movement time is the actual time spent moving into position for the next shot.

As Nick points out in the video, too many players wait until the ball bounces on their side of the net before making any initial movement to the ball. This type of response time is too late.
